Every year summertime is coming and I ask myself the same question: shall I rent an apartment or a hotel room for my next holidays? And every year I answer myself the same: each one has its advantages and disadvantages. When you travel, your lodging can become the most important part of your trip. Where you stay will depend on a number of factors, of course: budget, vacation style, number of people... Both can come with great perks, like tennis courts and pools and even lounges. And also both offer many great opportunities to socialize but, ¿what happens when you just want just to relax or spend some more time with your group of friends? Advantages of hotels

Hotels usually provide nicer accommodations than apartments. They might have a restaurant and/or a night club attached and cleaning service everyday. Hotels probably offer a more personalized service than apartments. At the hotels someone will carry your luggage to the rooms, for example.

Disadvantages of hotels:

The most important disadvantage are the costs; Hotels are expensive: always more expensive than apartments. Another big disadvantage is that you are much more limited than in an apartment: you have to wake up early in the morning, between 8:00 to 10:00 A.M., if you want to have breakfast. The same happens with lunch and dinner time! You can’t go out on a trip if you have to come back for dinner time. So, you would maybe pay for services that you won’t use.

Advantages of apartments

The advantages are obvious, such as having a group of people paying together for one apartment with many rooms. It means that you pay less money for a bigger place. Moreover, many apartments have a private gorgeous in-ground garden with pool or a fantastic tennis court. You don’t have to share all this with other people. Private homes offer excellent flexibility. Obviously, the biggest advantage of staying in an apartment is the freedom that it gives to you: you eat when, what and how you want. You don’t have to wake up early in the morning. So, you feel less limited than in a hotel.

Disadvantages of apartments

There is less chance that you will meet fellow travellers and talk with them. A hotel provides more excitement, adventure and more opportunities to make friends because of its facilities.

Conclusion

As you can see, there is more than one reason to rent an apartment. The privacy, the price, the freedom it gives to you, the space… I really prefer an apartment!
